New Footballer Bidding System and Community Created Footballers released!

As many of you already know we released the Youth Team functionality today and we really believe that this will give a great boost to the “younger football environment” within FID. We also believe it will be a great place for new users to start their career. However, we have also realized we need to find a way for the “older football environment” to get a fresh input of older footballers based on the current need (we know for example that there’s currently a lack of older Side Defenders). This together with some other reasons lead us into the ideas of improving the footballer takeover system in a way so that it will cater better for these issues both when it comes to already existing footballers but also when it comes to bringing in new (older) footballers. The final product of these ideas is the new Footballer Bidding system and the Community Created Footballers functionality that was released today.

The Footballer Bidding System

The way it basically works is that it allows users to bid on footballers in the bidding takeover list. When placing a bid the user specifies the maximum bid he wants to place on a footballer (the highest amount he is open to bidding for the footballer). The maximum bid submitted by the user must be higher than the current bid or higher than the minimum bid level for that footballer (if there are no current bid). A maximum bid is built up by some base factors such as:

- User Rating Bonus (your user rating x 0.045)

- Nationality Bonus (+1500 if you are from same country and if it is the first round of bidding)

- Supporter Pass Bonus (+350 if you have a supporter pass)

On top of this the user can add an amount of FID Credits to increase his or hers maximum bid. The total of these factors will result into the users maximum bid for that footballer and once the bid is submitted it cannot be cancelled (it can be edited but not lowered beneath the current bid). The FID Credits will be withdrawn from the user’s account when bid is submitted and repaid if user is later outbid by another user. One can see all one's ongoing (and historical) bids in the top section (My ongoing bids) of the Footballer Bidding page.

Please note that all bids will also require a new character slot to be created if a user wins a bid. Therefore a 3 month character slot will be automatically created by the system when a bid is won and therefore the system withdraws 350 FIDC (the cost of the slot) from the user’s account upon submitting a bid (and it is repaid in case user is later outbid by another user).

Now, if anyone else wants to bid for the same footballer that user will have to submit a maximum bid that is higher than the current bid. Once submitted the system will compare that user’s maximum bid to the already submitted maximum bid of the other user and the one with the highest maximum bid now becomes the “top bidder”, and the current bid will have been increased to the level where the other user had his maximum bid. If the user that placed the bid last had a lower maximum bid than the previous bidder then the system will give immediate information that user has been outbid and the current bid for that footballer has been increased. If the user that placed the last bid had a bigger max bid than the previous bidder the system will inform the previous bidder that his or hers bid was outbid and that any FID Credits used for bidding has been repaid.

In the end, the user having the current bid when the deadline is reached will win the footballer and the footballer (and the new slot) will be attached to the user.

Good to know about the bidding system:

- Minimum bid levels decrease with 10% for every deadline that passes without anyone placing a bid for a footballer (after the 2nd deadline).

- FID Credits involved in bid and as payment for a new slot (if you win the bid) will be withdrawn from your account when you place a bid but repaid to your account if you are outbid by other user (you can see this in your credit transaction history).

- The previous takeover system was limited to applying for footballers from your own nation only. The new system however only has this limitation during the first deadline period. Once the first deadline has passed and if no one placed a bid for a footballer then that footballer can be bid on from user of any nationality and the nationality bonus is no longer active.Community Created footballers do not have a nationality and therefore they are always available for bids from any nation.

Adding Footballers on the Bidding list

Footballers can be added to the bidding list in one of the following ways:

1. Footballers end up on this list if their owning user is deactivated due to inactivity and if the footballer is under contract with a team.

2. Footballers end up on this list if their owning user does not renew a slot with a footballer in it and if the footballer is under contract with a team.

3. NEW! There is now a new feature on the user space (next to the footballers) that allows users to “put footballer on takeover list”. This means that the user can continue using the footballer until someone has made a bid and won the footballer. Please note that the user does not receive anything from this transaction (except for emptying the slot) and the footballer cannot be taken off the takeover list once someone has put in a bid for him.

4. NEW! There is now a new feature where users in the community can create older footballers (22-29) that the rest of the community can vote for to be released on the takeover list (also individual users can release a footballer onto the list for a small fee but it does not guarantee that user will get the footballer in a bidding war). See beneath for further details…

The Community Created Footballers Feature

This is a new feature which we hope will start generating new older footballers into the world of Footballidentity based on the current need. It allows individual users to create a footballer of age 22-29 (the user will get experience points received depends on the age selected but will be clearly less than if you were to create an 18 year old footballer and trained him up to the same age). After having submitted a new footballer it ends up on the Community Created Footballers list. In this list users can:

- See the footballer’s attributes.

- Vote for the footballer to be released on the takeover list (each user can only vote for one footballer currently in the list).

- Add a footballer to the "watch list", meaning that the user will be notified when the footballer is released on the takeover list.

- Release the footballer on the takeover list. This can be done by any user for 400 FID Credits. There is however no guarantee that the same user will get the footballer. There will have to be an open bidding for him as with any footballer in the takeover list and there is no nationality bonus involved.

We in the admin team intend to release footballers from the community created footballer list onto the takeover list whenever we see (or when we believe) that there is strong demand for them. When this will happen you never know :)

You will find the new Footballer Bidding System and the Community Created Footballers feature (already filled with footballers created by you!) directly under your MY FID menu (FOOTBALLERS). We hope you enjoy!
